Head Start is a Federal funded program that provides full-day programs with classes during the traditional school year. In Indio we are at Eisenhower, Hoover, Jackson, and Van Buren elementary schools. In La Quinta we are at Adams ECLC. In Palm Desert we are at Lincoln Elementary School.
Head Start is committed to the inclusion of all children in all classrooms by offering over-income waivers* and reserving 10 percent of its enrollment to children with disabilities.*
* Over-income waivers are limited to 10 percent of total program enrollment and the child must have a current Individualized Education Program (IEP) for Head Start.
This Federally funded project provides an extensive school-year preschool program for children three and four years of age. Family’s income must meet Federal poverty level.
Desert Sands Head Start offers full-day preschool services to the families who meet the Federal income requirements. Families that receive food stamps are categorically eligible to receive Head Start services.
